3/23/2018

The Foundation for Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that the first Paris Patla Musculoskeletal Grant will be offered starting in 2018. The purpose of the grant is to study the musculoskeletal system and manual therapy. The new funding mechanism will award $120,000 per year for two years with a possible third year of funding via a competitive renewal, providing funding up to $360,000 over a three-year period.

“The Foundation has worked tirelessly to build up a strong cadre of physical therapist researchers, “Paris said. “We support physical therapy research because it is critical to our profession’s ongoing health.” Patla remarked, “We want to sustain the Foundation’s work for generations to come.”

The grant is made possible by a generous $1 million contribution received in 2014. Foundation Trustee Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA, FAAOMPT and his wife Catherine Patla, PT, DHSc, MS, OCS, MTC, FAAOMPT donated $500,000 and Laureate Education Inc. supported them by matching their $500,000 gift.
