MANUAL PHYSICAL THERAPY: BALANCING THE 3 PILLARS OF EBP

Evidence Based Practice (EBP), as proposed by Sackett, involves the consideration of 3 equally weighted factors, the "pillars of EBP", namely:

  1. Patient Values
  2. Clinical Expertise and
  3. Relevant Research

Practicing true EBP requires clinicians to understand the interplay of these 3 factors, and to make judicious clinical decisions regarding the care of an individual patient based upon this knowledge.

The Conference Planning Committee has been working diligently to put together an invaluable experience for AAOMPT Members in Cincinnati in 2013. It is our intention to utilize the talents of National and International Speakers to explore the 3 Pillars of EBP.

Presentations will explore the role of the patient's values and perspectives, development of clinical expertise and skills, and the role of relevant research. The 3 Pillars will all be represented in dynamic and informative, didactic and hands-on sessions, designed to enhance your clinical skills.
