Speaker Biographies

Tom Adderley, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Tom Adderley is a seasoned member of the clinical team who utilizes his hand-on skills and clinical expertise to create innovative rehabilitative programs that challenge, strengthen and restore. While Tom treats a myriad of orthopedic injuries and condition, he specializes in post-operative and nonoperative neuromusculoskeletal conditions with an emphasis on spinal mediated extremity symptoms. On a daily basis, Tom is focused on helping each of his patients understand the reasons why they became injured and how their actions can either correct or perpetuate the issues causing their dysfunction. He is passionate about getting each person back to their pre-injury level of function and is highly-skilled at helping patients achieve their goals.


Chris Allen, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPTdo

Dr. Chris Allen is an Associate Professor with the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Cincinnati. He is board certified in Orthopaedics, fellowship trained in manual physical therapy, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He serves as the co-chair of the AAOMPT research committee.


Nicole Baker, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Nicole Baker received her Doctorate from Azusa Pacific University in 2013. She is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. Her areas of interest and specialization include the spine, foot and ankle, and hip / lower extremity. Nicole is the coordinator of the Memorial Hermann SMR Spine Program for the hospital system. She has advanced certification in manual training as a Fellow in the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists and in the Schroth Method for Scoliosis. Nicole is on faculty with the Memorial Hermann Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency leading didactic and research involving the Spine and Dance Medicine. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, traveling, being outdoors, doing yoga and taking the occasional ballet class.


Helene Bengtsson, PT, DPT, OCS, WCS

Dr. Helene Bengtsson graduated from Ithaca College with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. Following she was able to achieve her Board Certified Clinical Specialty in Orthopedics in 2019. After she made the jump into Pelvic Health where she specializes in pelvic pain pertaining to complex gynecology, sexual medicine, and menopause. In 2022, Helene became a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health and is currently practicing at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, IL. Helene is also a certified Pilates Instructor and is the owner of Eira Pilates in Chicago, IL.


Alex Bengtsson, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Alex Bengtsson received his DPT from the University of Miami in 2015 and completed an orthopaedic residency through the Virginia Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute in 2016. Alex became a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in 2017. He completed the Duke University Health System Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship in 2020 and the Northwestern University Fellowship in Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research and Education in 2021. Alex is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Northwestern University, with a primary interest in the neurophysiology of chronic pain and mechanisms associated with analgesic effects of manual therapy and exercise. He practices part-time at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and mentors orthopaedic residents and fellows-in-training. Alex is the chair of the AAOMPT education committee.


Leanna Blanchard, PT, DPT, CLT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Leanna Blanchard received her DPT from The George Washington University in 2015, and subsequently completed her orthopaedic residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital/The George Washington University. Leanna is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and was recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2018 after completing her manual therapy fellowship at University of Illinois - Chicago. Leanna is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the DPT program at North Central College. Her scholarly interests include the impact of movement on the lived experience of DPT students, breast cancer survivors, and patients with chronic pain.


Jane Borgehammar, PT, MS, OCS, FAAOMPT, Dip MDT, DSc (ABD)

Jane is a clinical faculty member at Midwestern University Physical Therapy Institute, adjunct faculty at Tufts University and Governors State University, and a faculty member for McKenzie Institute USA. Jane earned her BSPT at the University of Santo Tomas, her Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in 2009, and her MS and Fellowship in OMPT from Daemen University in 2018. She received her APTA orthopaedic certification in 2018, and is expecting to complete her DSc at Bellin College in 2023.


Michael Bourassa, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Bourassa is the Program Director for the East Tennessee State University Residency and Fellowship Programs and an Associate Professor within the ETSU DPT program. He is board certified in Orthopaedic physical therapy and is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. His research interests include Integration of evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care, Psychomotor skill development in physical therapy education and the Role of expectations within the practice of physical therapy


Raymond Butts, PT, DPT, PhD, MS, FAAOMPT, Dip. Osteopractic, Cert. SMT, Cert. DN, MAACP(UK)

Dr. Raymond Butts graduated with honors from the US Military Academy at West Point & served as a 1st Armored Division Army officer in Bosnia-Kosovo & Iraq. He received a post-graduate, International Masters of Neuroscience from the University of Tubingen. He completed a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of South Carolina. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Over the last 8 years, he has coordinated the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy Fellowship in OMPT & taught over 250 seminars on spinal manipulation, dry needling, research methodology, anatomy & pain science.


Tara Caberwal, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Tara Caberwal is an Assistant Professor at Campbell University in North Carolina. She has completed her Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy (DScPT), is an APTA Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT). She currently serves as vice-chair of the APTA Tactical Athlete Special Interest Group. Her research interests include musculoskeletal injury and improving resiliency of the special forces soldier.


Eric Chaconas, DPT, PhD, FAAOMPT

Eric Chaconas is the Chair of Physical Therapy Programs at Bellin College, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The College offers a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy, OMPT Fellowship and entry level DPT programs. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and teaches courses on the topics of differential diagnosis, research, imaging and leadership.


Chad Cook, PT, PhD, FAPTA

Chad Cook PT, PhD, FAPTA, FAAOMPT is a professor at Duke University. He is the Director of the Duke Center of Excellence in Manual and Manipulative Therapy and is a PI of a NIH U24 titled "ForceNET". Dr. Cook is a long-time contributor to manual therapy research and recently coordinated efforts with the International Manual Therapy Framework Consortium to refine treatment to pain mechanisms.


Valerie Coolman, DScPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT

Valerie Coolman, completed her Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Andrews University. She is a Certified Manual Therapist (CMPT), a Certified Manual/Manipulative Therapist (COMT), an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist (OCS), and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). She has served as the Director of the Post-Professional Physical Therapy Program at Andrews University and an Orthopaedic Fellowship Director. Currently, Dr. Coolman serves as Chair of the Leadership subcommittee for AAOMPT, is Faculty for ASPIRE OMT (Erl Pettman's newly founded institute), and serves as Assistant Professor at Governors State University.


Spencer Cowen, PT, DPT

Spencer received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2021. He went on the complete an Orthopedic Residency at Mercer University in 2022, and is currently a fellow-in-training at Northwestern University. Spencer is a resident of Lexington, KY where he is employed by KORT Physical Therapy.


Brandon Cruz, OCS,SCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Brandon Cruz is the founder of Pursue PT & IOSMT. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Temple University and continued his postgraduate work at UMDNJ, now Rutgers University, where he went on to graduate with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Cruz pursued a residency program to sharpen and fine-tune his orthopedic skills at Temple University’s highly respected Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency program. Dr. Cruz has obtained an elite distinction holding dual board certifications in Orthopedic and Sports Rehabilitation (OCS), (SCS) putting him in the top 1% of all practitioners in the country. Brandon has completed his fellowship training in Orthopedic Manual Therapy at Regis University.

Kyle Denlinger, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Kyle Denlinger earned his DPT from Northwestern University in 2015. He went on to become a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist after completing Orthopaedic Residency training at Loyola University Chicago in 2017. Dr. Denlinger practiced at the United States Lacrosse Headquarters in Maryland and earned designation as a certified strength and conditioning specialist in 2019. Kyle completed the Northwestern University Fellowship for Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research and Education in 2021. He currently lives in the greater Denver area and works at the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center in Boulder, CO. Dr. Denlinger currently teaches at the Colorado University Physical Therapy Program in the Musculoskeletal track.


Michelle Dolphin, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Michelle Dolphin has a passion for teaching and learning. She has a background in exercise physiology and dance and has been a PT for 29 years. Dr. Dolphin is the Associate Program Director and an Associate Professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She is also the College of Health Professions Assistant Dean for Faculty Engagement. She maintains clinical practice in orthopaedics with a focus on adolescent athletes and performing artists. She completed residency at the Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in 1997. Dr. Dolphin has been an Orthopaedic Board-Certified Specialist since 2001 and completed Fellowship at Regis University in 2021.


Megan Donaldson, PT, Ph.D., FAAOMPT

Megan Donaldson PT, Ph.D., FAAOMPT, is a Professor who serves as the Chair for the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. As a clinical researcher, Dr. Donaldson has consistently contributed to the evidence with peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national and international presentations on examining and treating musculoskeletal health topics. She is actively engaged in national-level professional services as the former AAOMPT Conference Chair and Executive Board member. She is the current Chief Delegate for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Ohio Chapter. Clinically, she treats sports and orthopedic patients and coordinates seasonal pro-bono physical therapy consultations for Hispanic Migrant patients.


Brian Duncan, PT, DPT, SCS, OCS, FAAOMPT

Brian is board-certified in both orthopeadic & sports physical therapy and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapists. He serves as the director of the D1 Fellowship Program and leads the Rockets Sports Medicine Institute - Shepherd Square location which is the headquarters for the RSMI human performance team and houses the clinical practice location for the D1 fellow and a sports resident. His passion is clinical excellence, research, and mentorship in sports medicine through residency and fellowship education.


Alexa Edwards, PT, DPT, OCS

Alexa Edwards received her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from UC Santa Barbara and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She is residency trained and is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy. Alexa’s areas of interest and specialization include the spine, foot and ankle, and treatment of athletes / active individuals. She is a member of our pediatric orthopedic, spine and hip preservation teams and has advanced certification/training as an orthopedic and manual therapy provider. Alexa is faculty within the Memorial Hermann orthopedic residency program, is heavily involved in research for the spine and hip preservation programs and has presented spine research at national meetings. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Texas Physical Therapy Association. Alexa believes in helping patients reach their goals through evidence-based, collaborative sessions specific to each individual. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking/backpacking, cooking and yoga.


Martha Funabashi, PT, PhD

Dr. Funabashi is an Associate Professor and a clinical research scientist at CMCC and holds adjunct professor positions at Universities in Canada and USA. Martha has a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy, a Master’s degree in Neurosciences and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences. Martha did a post-doctoral fellowship in patient safety and was recently named the Researcher of the Year by the American Chiropractic Association. Martha’s research interests and passion include the biomechanics, underlying mechanisms and safety of orthopedic manual therapies, with a focus on spinal manipulative therapy and spinal mobilization.


Andrew Golden, PT, DPT, DSc, FAAOMPT, OCS, Cert MDT

Andrew Golden is a physical therapist in the U.S. Army. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Army-Baylor Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. He received his BS in Education from University of Evansville in 2007, DPT from U.S. Army-Baylor University in 2014, and DSc from Baylor University in 2022. Dr. Golden is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. His interests include clinical education and orthopedic manual physical therapy. His previous research studies have investigated PFPS, bone stress injuries, and chronic ankle sprains.


Amanda Grant, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, MTC, CLT, IDN Cert

Amanda Grant is the Director of Fellowship and Residency at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and is an orthopaedic certified specialist from the ABPTS. Amanda is also is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy and earned her Manual Therapy Certification. She has practiced clinically in the outpatient orthopedic setting for the past 15 years specializing in orthopaedics and lymphedema. Amanda has presented nationally on the topics of problem solving and critical thinking as it relates kinetic chain dysfunctions as well as differential diagnosis and clinical management of lymphedema.


Nick Gulla, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Nick Gulla is a passionate and knowledgeable Physical Therapist who always puts his patients first. His post-doctoral residency and fellowship training has made him well equipped to manage many complex orthopedic and sports medicine conditions. He is a former NCAA athlete, competing in baseball at Elizabethtown College. Outside of the clinic, Nick also serves as a guest lecturer at The Ohio State University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program as well as The Ohio State University Orthopedic Residency Program. Additionally, he is the Curriculum Coordinator for the OSU orthopaedic manual physical therapy fellowship. In his free time, Nick enjoys weightlifting, marathon training, playing music, podcasting, and participating in various recreational sports. He hosts a podcast called The Post-Doc PT Experience and has published a case report in JOSPT Cases.


Josh Halfpap, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Halfpap is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He received both his Doctor of Physical Therapy (2011) and Doctor of Science in Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapy (2018) degrees from the U.S. Army-Baylor University Graduate Program. He is an ABPTS board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapists. His research interests include orthopedics, direct access, manual therapies, and clinical reasoning. He joined the faculty at the Bowling Green State University in 2022 after 21 years as an active-duty military physical therapist.


Penny Head, PT, PhD, SCS, ATC, CSCS

Dr. Penny Head is an associate professor at Western Kentucky University. She earned a BA in Biology from Maryville College, a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, an MS in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Orthopaedic and Sports Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. She is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist. Dr. Head is also a certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. Her research interests include return-to-sport testing, sports-related musculoskeletal injury, and injury prevention.


John Heick, PT, PhD, OCS, NCS, SCS

John is a Professor at Northern Arizona Univerisity in Flagstaff, Arizona. John received his Ph.D. in 2015 from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Orthopaedic and Sports Science. He received his Doctorate from Shenandoah University and undergraduate from Northern Arizona University. John is board certified by ABPTS in orthopaedics, neurology, and sports. John has practiced for 20 years in various settings to include the emergency department, sports, and orthopaedics. John is the author of Screening for Orthopaedics monographs for the Academy of Orthopaedics. John was awarded the James A Gould Excellence in Teaching Orthopaedics award from the Academy of Orthopaedics in 2021.


Craig Hensley, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, MSCI

Craig P. Hensley is Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences (Northwestern University). He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree [University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)- 2007], Orthopedic Residency (University of Southern California- 2009), and Manual Therapy Fellowship (UIC- 2011). He published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and is co-authoring the funded Clinical Practice Guideline for Medical Screening. Dr. Hensley has given over 60 peer-reviewed presentations. He serves on the AAOMPT Practice Affairs and the ACOMPTE Accreditation Committees.


Samuel Howarth, PhD

Dr. Samuel Howarth is an Associate Professor, Director of Human Performance Research and holds the McMorland Family Research Chair in Mechanobiology at CMCC. He also holds adjunct positions at multiple Canadian universities. His research is directed toward biomechanical analysis of human movement focusing on functional tasks used in daily life and clinical practice. Dr. Howarth and his colleagues are particularly interested in using the force-time characteristics of orthopedic manual therapy procedures to systematically investigate mechanisms and safety of force-based manipulations, reconceptualise dosage of treatment and improve the teaching and learning of the complex motor skills necessary to be proficient.


Matthew Huey, PT, MPT, Dip MDT, FAAOMPT, PhD

Matt is a physical therapist in Irving, Texas. He is an AAOMPT fellow and a Diplomat in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. He has been active in serving the profession in various roles, including the Legislative Chair for the State of Mississippi and now serving as both a Delegate for the State of Texas and treasurer for the North Texas District. He is active in clinical practice specializing in individuals with spinal pain.


Nathan Hutting, PhD

Dr. Nathan Hutting is an associate professor at the HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. He also works as a physiotherapist in a private practice. He is a member of the executive committee of the Dutch Association for Manual Therapy, is the member organisation delegate of the Netherlands IFOMPT. His current research topics include musculoskeletal conditions, self-management, patient-centered care, shared-decision making, occupational health, vascular conditions and safe treatment of the cervical spine. Nathan has published about 45 peer-reviewed articles, has made many international invited presentations and will chair his fourth consecutive focused symposium at the World Physiotherapy congresses this year.


Tarang Jain, PT, PhD

Tarang Jain is a faculty member at Northern Arizona University and his primary area of instruction is in musculoskeletal practice. Tarang received his doctorate degree in Rehabilitation Science and has completed an interdisciplinary certificate in Health Professions Education as well as certificate in Effective College Instruction to develop formal skills in instructional delivery and research. He has numerous scientific presentations and has lectured extensively at the entry-level and postgraduate levels on medical screening and differential diagnosis in physical therapy practice. Dr. Jain maintains an active practice for community residents and has published many manuscripts related to orthopedic physical therapist practice.


Christine Kasprisin, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Christine Kasprisin is currently a Clinical Internship Director for the U.S. Army-Baylor DPT Program at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC. She is a board-certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and is an Assistant Professor in the Army-Baylor DPT Program. Her research interests include utilizing technology in physical therapy practice, public health engagement, and improving the instruction and performance of manual physical therapy.


David Kempfert, DPT, PhD, L/ATC, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT

David J. Kempfert is a comprehensive therapist with >15 years of content expertise in sports, orthopaedics, and manual rehabilitation. He is a fellow of AAOMPT, has served as a reviewer for the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy (IJSPT), as a member of the Specialization Academy of Content Experts for the physical therapy Sports Specialty Council, as a PT/ATC for the United States Soccer Federation, and has conducted lectures at local and national conferences. David received his PhD in 2022 with a research agenda utilizing shear wave elastography to quantify adaptive/maladaptive changes of human soft tissue following injury and rehabilitation.


Sean Kennedy, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

Sean Kennedy is a residency trained, board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy. He currently practices as a research physical therapist at Memorial Hermann’s Rockets Sports Medicine Institute (RSMI) in Houston Texas. In addition to his clinical role, Sean is working towards earning his PhD in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. Sean meaningful contributes to RSMI’s goal of developing a Center for Shoulder and Elbow Excellence through specialty practice in the care of the upper extremity athlete as well as clinical objective and outcomes-related research with their surgical partners at University of Texas Orthopedics.


Damian Keter, PT, DPT, PhD(c), OCS

Damian Keter earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013 and his Philosophy Doctorate in Health Sciences in 2023 where he investigated pain phenotyping in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. He is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and holds certifications in dry needling and chronic pain rehabilitation. Dr. Keter currently works at the Cleveland VA Medical Center where he serves as a clinician, clinical researcher, and mentor for the Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Residency program. He also serves as a member of the Department of Veterans Affairs National Biopsychosocial pain mentoring program and a National Institute of Health workgroup on force-based manipulation. Dr. Keter lectures and teaches continuing education frequently at the local, state, and national level on various topics related to chronic pain, pain science, and manual therapy. He has published several peer-reviewed works on education and clinical topics related to pain and manual therapy. Dr. Keter has previously served on the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Academy of Content Experts.


Patricia (Trish) King, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT

Patricia King, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT is professor and Chair, at the Department of Physical Therapy Tennessee State University. She is a member of the APTA TN Nominating Committee, AAOMPT Practice Affairs Committee and is Chair of the APTA Manipulation Education Manual Task Force. She earned her PT degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center-Memphis, a Master of Arts in Medical Anthropology from the University of Memphis, and a PhD in Anthropology (medical anthropology and women’s/gender studies) from the University of Florida. Dr. King earned certification in orthopaedic manual physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine and was recognized as an orthopaedic physical therapy specialist in 2006.


Kenneth Kirby, PT, DPT

Kenneth Kirby, PT, DPT, is a sports medicine physical therapist at the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. He has over 17 years of clinic experience in sports and orthopedics with a focus on utilization of MDT methodology for evaluating and treating spinal and peripheral pathology.  He currently serves as a faculty member and Mentoring Coordinator for OSU’s Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program and faculty member for OSU’s Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship Program.  He also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member for Tufts University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He completed his undergraduate education at Maryville College before receiving his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duke University. In 2020 he received his Master’s in Orthopaedic manual physical therapy from Daemen College.  Kenneth is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and is Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.  


Wil Kolb, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. William “Wil” Kolb is an associate professor for the Radford University Carilion DPT program teaching in the musculoskeletal and professional development tracts. He has more than twenty-five years of practice including specializing in patients with joint replacement and complex pain. Dr. Kolb serves AAOMPT as the president of the ACF-SIG. His research interests include Knowledge Translation for pain education and for best methods of teaching psychomotor skills. Caitlyn Lang, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Caitlyn Lang received dual certification in orthopedics and sports following completion of her orthopedic residency at Memorial Hermann. Following residency she completed her AAOMPT fellowship through the Manual Therapy Institute in 2017. Dr. Lang currently serves as the orthopedic residency director at Memorial Hermann. She also acts as the primary investigator and co-investigator in multiple ongoing studies in conjunction with Memorial Hermann’s Spine Program. Caitlyn’s physical therapy interests include conservative management of the spine and hip.


Kenneth Learman, PT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT

Ken Learman, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Graduate Studies in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Youngstown State University. He is the director for the Doctorate in Health Sciences along with teaching EBP and orthopedic manual therapy in the DPT program. With 34 years of OMT experience, he is a deputy editor for the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy and has served as a reviewer for more than a dozen other journals. He has published over 40 manuscripts, 7 book chapters and co-edited an orthopedic cases textbook.


Margaux Lojacono, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, OCS, cert. MDT

Margaux is a full-time clinician at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Her clinical practice has a focus on orthopedics and concussion management through an interdisciplinary concussion management clinic. She graduated from Ithaca College (MSPT) and Daemen College (tDPT, OMPT Fellowship) and is currently working towards a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy at Bellin College. She is also an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, is credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy and is the president of the AAOMPT Sports SIG.


Paul Lonnemann, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Paul Lonnemann has been a practicing PT for 30 years. He has worked in the areas of acute care, private practice, home health, group practices and academia with a particular focus on evidence informed evaluation and treatment techniques for orthopaedic conditions. He currently is assistant professor at Bellarmine University. He also works in an outpatient clinic and teaches orthopaedic manual physical therapy residents and fellows-in-training. He teaches continuing education courses for the University of Saint Augustine and with KORT Physical Therapy in the topics of manual therapy for the spine and High Velocity Low Amplitude Thrust techniques. He lives in Floyds Knobs IN with his wife Elaine, and four grown children. He enjoys listening to music, exercise, travel and farm work where he cares for his chickens and three Great Pyrenees Dogs.


Joe Lorenzetti, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, FAAOMPT, Dip. MDT, MTC

Joe graduated from D’Youville College in 2004 with his Master’s degree in PT. In 2010 he completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Manual Therapy Certification (MTC) through the University of St. Augustine. He completed the Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship offered by Daemen College in 2014. Joe became an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association in 2018. Recently, he completed the McKenzie Diploma Program in 2021. Joe is a residency and fellowship mentor for the McKenzie Institute. Currently he is the Clinical Specialist for the Spine Program at Catholic Health System in Buffalo, NY.


Adriaan Louw, PT, PhD

Adriaan earned his undergraduate, master’s degree and PhD in physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an adjunct faculty member at St. Ambrose University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, teaching pain science. Adriaan has taught throughout the US and internationally for 25 years and authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Adriaan completed his Ph.D. on pain neuroscience education and is the Director of the Therapeutic Neuroscience Research Group – an independent collaborative initiative studying pain neuroscience. Adriaan is a senior faculty, pain science director and vice-president of faculty experience for Evidence in Motion.


Scott W. Lowe, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Scott W. Lowe is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine- Georgia. After completing a residency in Orthopedics he has been recognized as a Board-Certified specialist in Orthopedics and has since completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He has completed certifications and advanced training in Functional Movement, Pain Neuroscience, Sports Medicine, Ergonomics, and Functional testing. He has presented at multiple state and national conferences on topics of functional testing, persistent pain management and therapist-client communication dynamics.


Jane Lucas, PT, DPT, PBFR, CFMT, COMT, FAAOMPT FIT

Jane Lucas, PT, DPT, CFMT, FAAOMPT completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013, a manual therapy residency with the Institute of Physical Art in 2015 (CFMT), and a fellowship accredited by the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2021 (FAAOMPT). She presented on Respiratory Manual Therapy at the AAOMPT 2021 national conference and Ocular Therapy at the AAPMD 2022 national conference. She is currently the clinic director of Vardan Physiotherapy Centre in New Delhi, India where she treats a full caseload and mentors 20 physical therapists.


Kevin L. MacPherson, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Kevin L. MacPherson received his entry-level Master’s from the University of Florida in 2002. He then attained his manual therapy certification and transitional Doctorate through the University of Saint Augustine. Subsequently, he completed his fellowship through Regis University. In 2014, he shifted from clinical practice to academia, teaching the University of Florida DPT program. Recently, he completed a Doctor of Science through Bellin College. Kevin has served in various leadership roles in the APTA, the AAOMPT, and FPTA. His research interests include musculoskeletal pain and clinical reasoning. He now teaches for South College - Atlanta in the DPT program.


James Maggert, PT, DPT, OCS

James is a 2020 graduate of the University of Central Florida Doctor of Physical therapy program. During his time at UCF he held positions as the Student Physical Therapy association president and Florida Physical Therapy Association Student Delegate. Following graduation, he completed an Orthopedic Residency with the Brooks Institute of Higher Learning and is a current AAOMPT fellow in training at the Brooks Institute for Higher Learning as well. James is also currently serving on the board of Orthopedic SIG of the Florida Physical Therapy Association.


Michael Maninang, PT, DScPT, DPT, MBA, MHS

Dr. Maninang has been a practicing physical therapist for more than 30 years working mainly in the orthopedic physical therapy setting. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy degree from Cebu Doctors’ University in the Philippines, OMPT residency and fellowship training with the Ola Grimsby Institute, MBA from Walden University, MHS degree from the University of Indianapolis, DPT from Boston University, and a DScPT degree from Andrews University. He has FAAOMPT and OCS credentials. He is currently the Program Director of the OMPT Fellowship and Orthopedic PT Residency programs at the University of Chicago Medicine.


Cody Mansfield, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Cody Mansfield is a physical therapist in the Sports Medicine department of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a PhD student in the School of Health Rehabilitation Sciences. He also is the Director of the orthopaedic manual physical therapy fellowship at OSU. Cody received his Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from Chapman University and graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University. His physical therapy career began at OSU Sports Med as an orthoapedic physical therapy resident in 2014, and he was the first fellow in training in the OSU orthopaedic manual physical therapy fellowship in 2017. He currently practices physical therapy at our outpatient Gahanna facility with a focus of treating spine conditions and soccer athletes. His PhD training is focused on understanding the neurophysiological effects (i.e. fMRI, strength, movement, outcomes) of physical therapy interventions such as exercise and dry needling. He has published articles in JOSPT, JOSPT Cases, PTJ, JMMT, and IJSPT to name a few. Additionally, Cody has presented at previous AAOMPT Annual Conference, APTA CSM, and the Ohio PT Association conferences. He earned the Emerging Leader Award from AAOMPT in 2022.


Courtney Mason, PT, DPT

Dr. Courtney Mason received her B.S. in Health & Exercise Science from Wake Forest University in 2016, her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2021, and completed a Residency in Orthopedics at Mercer University in 2022. She has completed additional training in dry needling and peripheral nerve sensitization. Her clinical interests include treatment of chronic and neuropathic pain, diabetic neuropathy, and socioeconomic contributors to health. Courtney served as the Clinic Coordinator for the CARES student-run pro-bono therapy clinic and led the transition to the remote provision of telehealth services during the pandemic.


Sarah McAuliffe, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Sarah McAuliffe received her DPT from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2018. She completed a yearlong orthopaedic residency at Northwestern University-Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in 2019 and was recognized as a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2020. She then completed the Northwestern University Fellowship for Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research, and Education in 2021. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a member of the AAOMPT education committee.


Brian McClenahan, PT, MSPT, FAAOMPT, OCS, Dip.MDT

Brian is a faculty member of McKenzie Institute USA, Adjunct Faculty at Tufts University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and in full-time clinical practice at WellSpan Rehabilitation. A graduate of Ithaca College, he furthered his education to attain Board Certification in Orthopaedics, Diploma in MDT, Fellow of AAOMPT, and is currently completing his DSc at Bellin College. He presents nationally at inter-professional conferences, serves as a reviewer of peer journals, and remains active in research. Brian enjoys mentoring undergraduates and fellows-in-training to give back to his profession and is an active member of the AAOMPT Conference Committee.


Kimberly McCole Durant, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Durant has been treating as a physical therapist for the past 13 years. After receiving her degree from Gannon University, she attained her orthopaedic specialist certification (OCS) from APTA in 2016. Her commitment to learning led her to complete a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at Regis University in Denver, Colorado in 2018. Over the past four years, Dr. Durant has taken further continuing education to treat pelvic floor dysfunctions internally and externally. Recently, Dr. Durant has presented at other national and state conferences about bridging the gap between orthopaedics and pelvic health.


Stephen McDavitt PT, DPT, MS, FAAOMPT, FAPTA

Professor, University of Cumberlands, Hauser School of Physical Therapy, DPT program.

Currently, Steve teaches in the MSK, Professional Practice, and Biophysical Agent curriculums at the University of the Cumberlands. For over 45 years Steve has been practicing in outpatient orthopaedics and nationally advocating for physical therapist scope of practice, standards, education, regulation, and payment. He currently sits on the APTA Scientific Practice Affairs Committee and served APTA 2 terms each, as President of the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, APTA BOD and as APTA Manipulation Task Force Chair. Steve is also known for his stewardship to AAOMPT from 2 terms as the initial Chair of the Practice Affairs Committee, as VP and one term as the president of the Foundation for Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FOMPT). He currently serves as ex officio member of FOMPT. Amy W. McDevitt, PT, DPT, PhD

Amy W. McDevitt PT, DPT, PhD is an accomplished professional in the field of physical therapy. She earned a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2000 and later pursued a t-DPT degree in 2004, both from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Demonstrating a passion for advancing knowledge, Dr. McDevitt successfully completed her PhD through the University of Newcastle in Australia in 2023. Since 2000, Dr. McDevitt has dedicated herself to the practice of physical therapy and currently practices at the University of Colorado Health, CU Sports Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. She has garnered expertise in orthopedics and holds the designation of board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and she is recognized as a Fellow within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). Dr. McDevitt is an Associate Professor within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Medicine. In this capacity, she teaches and mentors entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy students, sharing her knowledge and passion with the next generation of practitioners. Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Dr. McDevitt remains actively engaged in research endeavors at the University of Colorado. Her research interests lie in musculoskeletal pain, mechanisms of manual therapy, shoulder pain, regional interdependence, and the assessment of clinical reasoning in physical therapist students. Along with her co-investigators, she was the 2013 winner of the Rose Excellence in Research Award and was awarded the Cardon Rehab research grant three times through the AAOMPT Through her research contributions, she aims to contribute to the collective knowledge in the field of physical therapy. Dr. McDevitt remains committed to her professional development and maintains active membership in both the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the AAOMPT. Myra Meekins, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT, NBC-HWC

Dr. Myra Meekins is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She graduated from Tennessee State University with a BS in PT, earned her DPT at Regis University, and completed her PhD in Orthopaedics and Sports Science at RMUoHP. She is board certified as a clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy. She also completed a movement system fellowship at Washington University and a manual therapy fellowship at the Manual Therapy Institute. In addition, she is a board-certified health and wellness coach. Current research interests include movement impairment analysis, clinical decision-making, and health and wellness coaching.


Preston Miller, SPT

Preston received his Bachelors Degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate and is currently completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). During his time at MUSC, Preston acted as the president of the AAOMPT sSIG on campus leading discussions with classmates and researchers about manual therapy topics. Preston will be graduating in May 2024 with plans to pursue a career in orthopedic physical therapy and residency.


Katlin Millin Daignault, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Katlin Millin Daignault received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Marquette University in 2012. Katlin is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and was recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2018 after completing her manual therapy fellowship at University of Illinois - Chicago. She is an adjunct clinical instructor at Malcolm X College where she teaches Anatomy and Kinesiology and is a contracted guest lecturer in the DPT program at Rosalind Franklin. Her clinical and scholarly interests include sports medicine and in particular clinical decision-making in the sports medicine population.


Kenneth A. Olson PT, DHSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Ken Olson is the president and co-owner of the physical therapy private practice Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists in DeKalb, Illinois and is also an adjunct faculty member for Northern Illinois University. He is author of the textbook Manual Physical Therapy of the Spine 3rd Edition, Elsevier and has published in peer-reviewed journals including JOSPT, JMMT, MSP, and the J of Craniomandibular Disorders on topics related to the use of manual therapy examination and treatment procedures for spine and TMJ disorders. He is also a co-author of the APTA documents the Manipulation Education Manual and Position on Thrust Joint Manipulation Provided by Physical Therapists and is a past president of both the AAOMPT and IFOMPT.


Nicholas Orton, PT, DPT, CSCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Nick Orton is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and physical therapist in the Mercer Physical Therapy Clinic. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wofford College. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Dr. Nate Parsons is an Assistant Professor with the U.S. Army- Baylor University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He is board certified in orthopedics and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. His research interests include maximizing recovery outcomes in military trainees. He currently serves as the Physical Therapy Internship Director at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Stephanie is a physical therapist at the student health center at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She received her DPT from Regis University in Denver, CO, and completed a residency in orthopedic physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She went on to complete her Manual Therapy Fellowship with EIM in 2011. Stephanie is a board-certified orthopaedic specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. She recently completed her Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy at Bellin College in 2021.


Catherine Patla, PT, DHSc, MMSc, FAPTA, OCS, FAAOMPT

Catherine Patla is an associate professor and a clinical mentor with USAHS residency/fellowship programs. She has been a fellow of AAOMPT since 1996. From 1996 - 2010, she had been on AAOMPT standards committee and co-chair 2003-2008. She is presently President of Foundation of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Her research investigations are on the topics of end-feel and clinical diagnostics skills.


Bryan Pickens, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Bryan Pickens is an Associate Professor at Baylor University and works in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and the Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy, both in San Antonio, TX. He earned his DPT in 2009 and a DSc from Baylor in 2016. He is board certified in Orthopedics, and Sports Physical Therapy, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. His research interests include neuromuscular activation in patients with knee osteoarthritis, telerehabilitation as well as clinical instruction.


Brad Profitt, PT, DPT, DC, DScPT, OCS

I am an associate professor at Marshall University School of Physical Therapy and an adjunct faculty member at University of Pittsburgh School of Rehab Science. My research interest is in spine care, spinal manipulation, as well as understanding the biopsychosocial impacts on chronic spine pain. My current course load at Marshall is Spine Orthopedics, Therapeutic Interventions, Prosthetics and Orthotics. I am currently collecting survey data on a questionnaire called Spinal Integrity Perception Scale (SIPS) for validation and doing so in collaboration with the Marshall Psychology Department. In addition, I practice in a PT outpatient setting.


Emilio Puentedura, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT

Louie has been involved in Orthopedic Manual Therapy for over 38 years and has lectured and presented seminars on the various approaches to Manual Therapy. After more than 10 years at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he achieved the rank of Associate Professor, Louie joined the faculty of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Baylor University in Waco, Texas as a Full Professor. Louie has contributed to over 75 peer-reviewed publications and several textbooks and textbook chapters since 2010. His areas of past and current research revolve around the safety and use of thrust joint manipulation in the spine, therapeutic pain neuroscience education and mobility of the nervous system.


Michael Ross, PT, DHSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Mike is an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at Daemen College in Amherst NY. Prior to his appointment at Daemen College, Dr. Ross served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years where he provided direct access physical therapy care, order musculoskeletal imaging, prescribe musculoskeletal medications, make patient dispositions and referrals, and order laboratory tests. Dr. Ross maintains an active practice for community residents, specializing in individuals with chronic pain, and has published over 150 manuscripts and abstracts related to physical therapist practice.


Ronald Schenk, PT, PhD, OCS, Dip MDT, FAAOMPT

Ron Schenk is a Clinical Professor of Physical Therapy at the Tufts University School of Medicine, where he teaches in the DPT program. Dr. Schenk earned his BS and MS degrees at Ithaca College and his PhD from the University at Buffalo. An AAOMPT Fellow, he is also a Diplomat in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute, USA and is active in clinical practice. He was awarded the AAOMPT “Teach I Must” Award in 2011, the McKenzie Institute Extension Award in 2016, and the Richard W. Bowling Richard E. Erhard Orthopaedic Clinical Practice Award from the AOPT in 2022 . Dr. Schenk has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences.


Carly Seethaler, PT, DPT

Carly Seethaler received her DPT from Mercer University in 2022 where she served as president of the APTA Georgia Student Focused Interest Network, was part of the APTA PT Moves Me Campaign, and a member of the ACAPT Leadership Academy Student Leadership Development Subcommittee. Carly completed the Brooks Rehabilitation Orthopaedic Residency Program in July 2023. Carly currently serves as a member of the RM Barney Poole Leadership Academy and the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy 50th Anniversary Planning Committee.


Gretchen Seif, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Seif received her Physical Therapy degree from The Ohio State University in 1993, her Master of Health Sciences from The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 1997, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2009 from Regis University. She is recognized as a clinical expert in orthopedic physical therapy with a certification in orthopedics and a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy. She currently teaches in the musculoskeletal course series at MUSC and electives in manual therapy and dry needling. She is the faculty mentor for the orthopedic CARES Student Run Free Clinic.


Mickey Shah, PT, DSc, FAAOMPT, OCS, DipMDT, CSCS, Certified Vestibular Rehabilitation Specialist (APTA-Emory)

Mickey is an Adjunct Professor at Governors State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and full-time clinician. He completed his PT degrees from D'Youville College in Buffalo New York and his Doctor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore. As a lifelong learner Mickey has completed his Orthopedic Clinical Specialty (OCS) and Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT) as well as recently completing his International Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (DipMDT). Tamara "Nikki" Shelton, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Tamara “Nikki” Shelton is dual certified in sports and orthopedics as well an AAOMPT fellow through the NAIOMT fellowship program. In her 14-year career, she has served as adjunct faculty for Texas Woman’s University, developed Memorial Hermann’s first orthopedic residency where she served as the director of the orthopedic and sports residency and is currently the programs director in Memorial Hermann’s sports medicine & rehab division where she oversees two residencies, two fellowships and seven multidisciplinary programs across the division. Nikki also participates in clinical research as a principal investigator for “Clinical Outcomes of the Spinal Patient from Conservative Care to Post-Operative Management.” She remains actively engaged in mentoring for multiple fellowship programs which aligns with her passion of advancing clinical education.


Mark Shepherd, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Mark H. Shepherd is a physical therapist who holds both a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) and a Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy (DSc). He is board certified in orthopaedics (OCS) and is fellowship trained in orthopaedic manual physical therapy (FAAOMPT). He is the program director of Bellin College’s Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Program. Dr. Shepherd has published several peer reviewed articles and presented at both state and national conferences. He continues to practice in clinical care in the state of Maryland.


Jason Silvernail, DPT, DSc, FAAOMPT

Dr. Jason Silvernail is the Deputy Commander for Readiness at Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, GA. He also serves as the Consultant to the Army Surgeon General for Physical Therapy. He is a board-certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and holds teaching positions at Baylor University and the Uniformed Services University. He was the 2022 AAOMPT Distinguished Lecturer where he called on DPTs and FAAOMPTs to brand and market themselves with confidence.


Kristin Smith, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT, MAT

Dr. Kristin Smith has been part of the FX team at EIM since 2022. She initially earned her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in 2000. She is an orthopedic certified specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 2014. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapy since 2018. She completed the post-professional DPT program through EIM in 2019. In 2021, she earned a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Bellin College.


Steven Spinks, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT

Dr. Spinks earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Western Kentucky University and his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from The University of Tennessee. Following graduation, he underwent advanced manual therapy training through the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars and received his Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT). He has also undergone certification in dry needling through the Integrative Dry Needling Institute and BenchMark Rehab Institute. He graduated from orthopedic residency through BenchMark Rehab Institute and became board certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Dr. Spinks also completed his fellowship training through Upstream Rehab Institute and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Gannon University in Ruskin, Florida, where his primary roles are in the musculoskeletal courses. Dr. Spinks has taught at both local and international courses for vestibular and concussion rehabilitation with the American Institute of Balance where he was the Vice President of Clinical Services & Research and is now an adjunct lecturer.


David Starmer, MSc, DC

Dr. David Starmer is a Director of Education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). He has served as Faculty Council chair at CMCC and multiple terms as an elected member to his provincial regulatory college, including one year as President. In addition to his instructional workload, he is an active researcher with interests in spinal manipulation training and simulation education. His research has led to several awards, grants, presentations, publications and workshops internationally. His research has also contributed to developing a simulation training and quality assurance system for chiropractors which is used around the world by many chiropractic institutions.


Josh Subialka, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Josh Subialka, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT is a co-founder and lead faculty member of Physio Seminars and Consulting. He has 10 years of clinical experience and has been an assistant professor in the Midwestern University Doctor of Physical Therapy program in Glendale, AZ since 2020 teaching in the areas of physical therapy evaluation, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and dry needling. He maintains part-time clinical practice in the MWU clinic while mentoring MWU DPT students. Josh has been teaching continuing education courses since 2017, teaching comprehensive evaluation and management courses, manual therapy, clinical reasoning, and dry needling courses. He is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica's DPT program, as well as Upstream Rehab Institute's orthopedic residency program, becoming an orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) in 2017. He later completed the URI orthopaedic manual physical therapy fellowship program, becoming a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) in 2018. Josh continues to be active in the URI fellowship program as senior lead faculty member of the research and scholarship program, and lead faculty in grand round cases series emphasizing clinical reasoning. He continues to be an active mentor for fellows-in-training across the country. In 2021, Josh graduated from Bellin College with a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree, where he published works on patient expectations and manual therapy trials for low back pain in prestigious journals such as JOSPT. His current research interests are patient expectations and perceptions of physical therapy/manual therapy, trial methodology and clinical applicability and translation, qualitative-driven research, and social determinants of health with accessibility to PT services. Josh is a national presenter/speaker, having presented at local, AAOMPT, and CSM conferences and is an active member of the APTA and AAOMPT organizations. Josh’s hobbies include golfing, reading, music, and enjoying time with friends and family.


Bradley Tragord, PT, DPT, DSc, FAAOMPT, OCS

Bradley Tragord serves as Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His passions include clinical education, direct care physical therapy, and manual therapy mechanisms. He received his BS in Biology from Missouri State University in 1999, DPT from Baylor University in 2007 and DSc from Baylor University in 2012. He has published several peer reviewed papers and his work has been presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Tragord is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.


Jon Umlauf, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT

Dr. Jon Umlauf is an Assistant Professor and Director of Curriculum of the Army-Baylor University DPT program. He is board-certified in Orthopaedics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and certified to perform diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound (RMSK). He is actively involved in the clinical education of entry-level and orthopedic manual physical therapy fellowship students. His research interests include advancing physical therapists' clinical competence, improving rehabilitative care outcomes, and investigating the utility of diagnostic ultrasound.


Ryan Vickers, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Ryan Vickers, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT completed his DPT at the University of St. Augustine, and his Orthopaedic Residency and Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship at Brooks Rehabilitation. He currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Orthopaedic Residency Program for the Brooks Rehabilitation Orthopaedic Residency, as well as an instructor for several CEUs. Ryan is an active member of both the APTA and AAOMPT, having presented at state and national conferences and currently acting as a member of the Diversity Network Committee. His specialties include the management treatment of patients with chronic neck pain, headaches, and TMD.


Jason Villarin, PhD, DPT, FAAOMPT

Dr Villarin is a clinical specialist with Kaiser Permanente in Oakland California. His clinical practice is focused on diverse orthopedic, pelvic health, hypermobility syndromes, and complex pain impairments. Jason currently serves on the AAOMPT Pelvic Special Interest Group. He comes to clinical practice from the sciences, investigating adaptive muscle physiology for a PhD from University of California at Davis, then research positions in Canada and the pacific northwest investigating topics of aging muscle and mitochondrial metabolism. He transitioned to clinical practice after a DPT from the University of Washington and completed a manual therapy fellowship in 2016.


Derek Vraa, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, CMTPT, FAAOMPT

Dr. Vraa is a co-founder of the USAF’s Tactical Sports & OMPT Fellowship where he serves as Senior Faculty. Prior to moving to Colorado, he spent over a decade treating complex chronic pain patients while working in private practice in Minnesota. He has presented at numerous national and Air Force conferences and recently authored a chapter in the Travell, Simons & Simons’ Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction 3rd edition textbook. Derek is pursuing his DSc from Bellin College, serves as the AAOMPT Academic and Clinical Faculty SIG Vice-President, IFOMPT External Auditor for AAOMPT/ACOMPTE and as an ABPTRFE Accreditation Site Visitor. 


Eric Wilson, PT, DSc, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT

Eric is the founding Program Director and current Deputy Program Director for the USAF’s Tactical Sports & OMPT Fellowship – a training pipeline preparing USAF PTs to become embedded in Special Warfare units. Prior to retiring from the USAF in 2016 as a Lieutenant Colonel, he served as the USAF Academy’s Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and the USAF’s PT consultant for Special Warfare PT. He stepped down to the Deputy Program Director position in 2019. Eric has taught courses in orthopedic PT for over 20 years and has been published in peer-reviewed journals and medical texts.


Brett Windsor, PT, MPA, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT

Currently serving as Physical Therapy Program Director for Rasmussen College, a highly innovative institution with vast expertise and experience in competency based education. One of founding faculty for Northern Arizona University Physical Therapy Program. Served as Chair of the Program for 17 years. Served as consultant and adjunct faculty for numerous educational programs throughout country. Expertise in orthopedics, wellness, business, and curricular design. Started DeRosa Physical Therapy which has grown to 4 locations in the Flagstaff region. Served as CEO of Northern Arizona Orthopedics, the largest orthopedic practice in northern Arizona. Held multiple roles in the American Physical Therapy Association. Member of the Flagstaff 40, which is a group of business leaders in northern Arizona.


Jodi Young, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT

Jodi Young is the Director of Research for the Bellin College DSc in Physical Therapy program. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Jodi completed her PhD through the University of Newcastle in Australia where she researched physical therapy dosing in patients with lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries. She has taught in entry-level DPT, residency and fellowship programs for nearly 15 years, teaching in the areas of orthopedics, manual therapy, differential diagnosis and research.


Emmanuel Yung, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, PhD(c)

Dr. Yung is Assistant Clinical Professor and Orthopaedic Residency Mentor at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, Guest Faculty at MGH Institute of Health Professions' Elevating Practice in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, Clinical Faculty of the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Spine Rehabilitation Fellowship, and co-founder of PhysioU. He is a PhD candidate at New York University. He served as the Vice-Chair of the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Education Committee, 2016-2021. He has authored 75 peer-reviewed scholarly artifacts and five funded research grants. He is also co-authoring the Clinical Practice Guideline for Medical Screening.


Morgan Zaranec, PT, DPT, CLT

Morgan Zaranec attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, with a minor in Disability Studies. Morgan received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Morgan was introduced to oncology and lymphedema rehabilitation during her clinical rotations and went on to work for UIC as a physical therapist with a focus in orthopaedics, breast cancer rehabilitation, and lymphedema. She also has a passion for teaching and worked closely with the DPT program at UIC as a lecturer and lab assistant. Morgan sought out further training via the oncology residency at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her clinical interests include breast and orthopaedic oncology, in addition to multidisciplinary care for patients with head and neck cancer. As an educator, Morgan works to increase awareness and comfortability of treating patients with past and active cancers at both the DPT and professional level.


Dylan Ziehme, PT, DPT

Dylan is an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist with special interests in pelvic floor, pain, hip, and spine conditions. He graduated with his doctorate in physical therapy from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN and practices at Hudson Hospital and Clinics in Hudson, WI, part of the HealthPartners enterprise. He sits on the executive board of the Pelvic Health Special Interest Group of AAOMPT and co-authored a clinical commentary on external management of the pelvic floor with AAOMPT colleagues in 2023. Dylan routinely utilizes thrust manipulation, functional dry needling, pain neuroscience education, and internal pelvic floor treatment in his practice.


Peter Zorn, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, Cert SMT, Cert DN, Certified in Vestibular Therapy

Peter Zorn, DPT, FAAOMPT, Dip Osteopractic, Cert DN, Cert SMT, Certified in Vestibular Therapy, has dedicated his life to developing a unique blend of modern medicine and natural methodology. Peter’s passion for functional medicine is driven by his long-standing commitment to reduce the burden of pain and suffering, and improve the health, vitality, and life quality of his community. In addition to working as a Physical Therapist, Dr. Zorn also works as a dry needling instructor for the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. He has also lectured on the subjects of therapeutic exercise, active recovery, nutrition, and vestibular therapy.
