Here are the exciting Keynotes for the 2018 AAOMPT Conference!

Laura Finucane, MSc, MMACP

Laura Finucane

Laura Finucane is a Consultant Physiotherapist specializing in spinal conditions. In 2002 she completed her masters degree in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy and became a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). She is the education and training lead for advanced practitioners and physiotherapists ensuring clinicians maintain their competency and expertise to deliver the service for SMSKP. She is affiliated to the University of Brighton and is an external examiner and clinical mentor for the master’s course leading to membership of the MACP. Laura’s special interest is in serious pathologies of the spine and she has presented nationally and internationally on this subject. She has written a number of papers related to serious pathology and teaches at a postgraduate level. More recently she has been involved in a national campaign to raise the awareness of cauda equina syndrome. She is the Vice President of The International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT), a sub group of the World Confederation of Physical Therapists.


Chad Cook, PT, PhD, MBA, FAAOMPT

Chad Cook

Dr. Cook is a clinical researcher, physical therapist, and profession advocate with a history of clinical care excellence and service. His passions include refining and improving the patient examination process and validating tools used in day-to-day physical therapist practice. Dr. Cook has authored or co-authored three textbooks, has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and lectures internationally on orthopedic examination and treatment.


Joel Bialosky, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT, OCS

Joel Bialosky

Joel Bialosky has over 14 years of clinical experience primarily in orthopedic and musculoskeletal physical therapy. He is a board certified clinical specialist in Orthopaedics and a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He received a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Ithaca College in 1990 and a master’s degree in musculoskeletal physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998. He graduated from the University of Florida with a PhD in Rehabilitation Science in 2008 with his research interests focused on the mechanisms of manual therapy in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain.


Allison Rushton, EdD, MSc, FCSP, FMACP, FHEA

Allison Rushton

Alison is a Reader in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham in the UK. She is Deputy Director and Research Co-Lead of the Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain (CPR Spine). She is the Programme Leader of the MRes Spinal Pain, and also teaches on the MSc Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy and MSc Exercise and Sports Medicine programmes. Alison has a strong research profile, with >80 publications in high impact journals including BMJ, PlosOne, Spine, BJSM, ESJ, BMJ Open, BMC Musculoskeletal, and Musculoskeletal Science and Practice. She has >£1 million current research funding. Her research is driven by patients and key issues in musculoskeletal clinical practice. Alison is Chair of the Standards Committee of The International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT), a sub group of the World Confederation of Physical Therapists. She is the lead author on the IFOMPT International framework for examination of the cervical region for potential of cervical arterial dysfunction prior to orthopaedic manual therapy intervention. Alison’s contribution to musculoskeletal rehabilitation research has been recognised through the award of fellowships from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the UK’s Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
