Chris Allen, PT, DSc, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Chris Allen is an Assistant Professor with Baylor University Graduate
School and is the Program Director for the Army-Baylor University
Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy located at
Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. His earned
professional degrees include a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Baylor
University, and a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Baylor
University. He is board certified in Orthopaedics, he is fellowship
trained in manual physical therapy, and is a Fellow of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Jonathan Borger, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Jonathan is a physical therapist for Lehigh Valley Health Network, where
he oversees quality of patient care and practice standards for
orthopedics. He is a member of the hospital's Advanced Spine Center and
Headache Center. Jonathan is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist,
and completed his fellowship in OMPT through the Manual Therapy
Institute. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for the physical
therapy programs at DeSales University and Arcadia University.
Bob Boyles, PT, DSc
Dr. Boyles is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University
of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. His primary areas of instruction are in
orthopaedics, which includes evaluation and intervention, manual therapy
treatment techniques for the spine and extremities, introduction to
joint mobilization, advanced spine manipulation, and radiology. Dr
Boyles is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual
Physical Therapists and certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist. He
completed his Residency and Doctoral degree in 2002 from U.S.
Army-Baylor University�Residency program in Orthopaedics�and Manual
Physical Therapy, where he later served as clinical faculty and
instructor for osteopathic approach to the spine. Additionally, he
teaches Joint Manipulation elective, and Radiology for Physical
Therapists for the University of Colorado Health Science Center in
Denver, CO. He teaches�numerous continuing education courses in manual
therapy and radiology for Physical Therapists in the U.S. Department of
Defense, the APTA and major universities throughout the United States,
Europe and Asia. He is an active researcher with publications focused on
manual physical therapy of the spine and extremities.
Ciara Burgi, PT, DPT, SCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS, PES
Ciara Burgi serves as a faculty member for the Houston Methodist Sugar
Land Physical Therapy and Athletic Training residency programs. A native
of Wisconsin, Ciara graduated from the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science in 2009, earned her
Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2015, and
completed a sports residency at Houston Methodist Sugar Land in 2015.
She is Board Certified in Sports and received her manual therapy
fellowship training through Institute for Athlete Regeneration. Ciara
has been published in the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science and the
Journal of Athletic Training and served on committees for the TPTA
Southeastern District, APTA Sports Physical Therapy Section, APTA
Student Assembly, and International Association for Dance Medicine and
Science. Her specialties include lower extremity rehabilitation,
performing arts, athletic performance, and global health.
Lyssa Cleary, DPT, OCS
Lyssa Cleary, Pt, DPT: Lyssa Cleary graduated with her doctor of
physical therapy from the University of Southern California in 2014 and
went on to complete USC's orthopedic residency in 2015. During her
residency, she presented internationally at the International Headache
Congress on the topic of an inter-disciplinary approach for the
treatment of patients with migraine headaches. She is a member of the
APTA's Orthopedic Section and California's Orthopedic Manual Physical
Therapy Special Interest Group. She currently works at a private
outpatient clinic in Santa Monica, Ca, SportsFit Physical Therapy and
Fitness.
Joshua Cleland, PT, PhD
Dr Cleland earned a Master of Physical Therapy Degree from Notre Dame
College in 2000 and the Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Creighton
University in 2001. In February of 2006, he received a PhD from Nova
Southeastern University. He received board certification from the
American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopaedic Clinical
Specialist in 2002 and completed a fellowship in manual therapy through
Regis University in Denver, CO in 2005. Josh is presently a Professor in
the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Franklin Pierce University.
He practices clinically in outpatient orthopaedics at Rehabilitation
Services of Concord Hospital, Concord, NH. He is actively involved in
numerous clinical research studies investigating the effectiveness of
manual physical therapy and exercise in the management of spine and
extremities disorders. He has published over 150 manuscripts in
peer-reviewed journals. He is currently an author/editor on 3 text
books. Dr Cleland is a well-known speaker at both the national and
international level and has delivered over 150 lectures and courses. He
is the recipient of the 2013 Rose Excellence in Research Award for 2013
and 2014 and the 2009 Eugene Michels New Investigator Award. He also
received the 2008 Jack Walker Award from the American Physical Therapy
Association.
Derek Clewley, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Derek Clewley is an assistant professor at Duke University in the
department of physical therapy. He earned his Masters degree in physical
therapy from the University of Montana, DPT from Shenandoah University,
has achieved board certification in orthopaedics, and is recognized as a
Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical
Therapists. He is a PhD candidate at Rocky Mountain University of Health
Professions, and his primary research interests include manual physical
therapy, dry needling, clinical reasoning, and health seeking behavior.
Dr. Clewley has presented at a number of state and national
conferences.
Beth Collier, PT, DPT, OCS
Dr. Beth Collier received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Georgia
State University in 2009. She has since completed Mercer University's
Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program in 2010 and fellowship in
education for physical therapists in 2014 and is currently completing
her fellowship in orthopaedic manual physical therapy. She is a clinical
assistant professor at Mercer University where she teaches in the entry
level physical therapy program and the orthopaedic residency program.
Dr. Collier's research interests include clinical reasoning,
neurodynamics and pain. She has published on musician-specific injuries
and effects of caffeine on strength and endurance. She has presented on
topics related to clinical reasoning, the pain sciences, neurogenic
dysfunction.
James Creps, PT, DScPT, OCS, CMPT
Dr. James Creps in an Assistant Professor and Associate Director for
Post-Professional Transitional DPT, Non-Degree Programs and Practice
Education at the University of Michigan-Flint. He has over thirty years
of clinical experience and has teaching expertise in the area of manual
physical therapy. His research interests are in manual physical
therapy, locomotor biomechanics/orthotics and performance improvement.
Dr. Creps is an active member with leadership roles with the American
Board of Physical Therapy Specialities and the American Physical Therapy
Association.
Bryan Dennison, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Dennison completed his tDPT degree and the Manual Therapy Fellowship
at Regis University in 2007 and 2009 respectively. He has taught in the
entry-level DPT program at the University of Southern California (USC),
the post-profession tDPT program at Regis University, and the
Residency/Fellow programs for EIM. He has contributed five text book
chapters, an APTA Cervical Spine Monograph, co-designed and taught a
fellowship level pain science course and is currently a manuscript
reviewer for the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy. He is
interested in evidence-based practice and the incorporation of the pain
sciences into patient management.
Gail Deyle, PT, DSc, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Gail Deyle is a Professor with Baylor University and the senior faculty
member for the Army-Baylor University Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic
Manual Physical Therapy. He has authored and contributed to some of the
most practice defining research on the effectiveness of orthopaedic
physical therapy combining tailored exercise programs with manual
examination and treatment. Dr Deyle has received outstanding researcher
and teaching awards including the Rose Research Award from the
Orthopaedic Specialty Section, the Freddy Kaltenborn 'Teach I must', and
the Distinguished Lecturer Awards from the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Megan Donaldson, PT, MSPT, PhD, FAAOMPT
Dr. Megan Donaldson, PT, PHD, FAAOMPT is a professor at Walsh
University. She has many publications in topics related to orthopedic
and manual physical therapy. Megan has received grant support for her
novel research on patient adherence and corresponding outcomes. Dr.
Donaldson continues to hold a clinical appointment in a busy outpatient
practice in Canton, Ohio.
Bob DuVall, PT, DHSc, MMSc, OCS, SCS, ATC, FAAOMPT, MTC, PCC, DAC, CSCS
In private practice since 1984, Dr DuVall is director of the NxtGen
Institute of Physical Therapy Orthopaedic Residency and APTA
Credentialed Manual Therapy Fellowship Programs at SportsMedicine of
Atlanta. Dr DuVall is an Assistant Professor teaching 'Differential
Diagnosis and Advanced Medical Screening' and 'Advanced Direct Access
Competencies' at the Shenandoah, Alabama State and Florida A&M
Universities. Practicing as a primary contact physical therapy
practitioner, Bob has clinically coordinated care for greater than
15,000 patients prior to physician intervention. Bob is ABPTS Board
Certified as an Orthopaedic and Sports Clinical Specialist and is a
Fellow of AAOMPT.
Alicia Emerson-Kavchak, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, FAAOMPT
Alicia Emerson Kavchak graduated from the Krannert School of Physical
Therapy at the University of Indianapolis in December 2000. She received
her advanced Masters of Rehabilitation Sciences from UIC in 2011 and
her transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Governor's State
University in 2014. Her research interests include the altered
nociceptive processing in chronic pain, examining effectiveness in
outpatient manual therapy, outcome measures and clinical reasoning.
Alicia is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, a fellow of
the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and is
Chair of the AAOMPT Research Committee.
Maggie Fillmore, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT
Maggie Fillmore, DPT, FAAOMPT is faculty member with the Kaiser
Permanente Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy
Fellowship, and a 1991 graduate of that program, then known as the
Kaiser Hayward Fellowship. A senior physical therapist at Kaiser Oakland
for more than 25 years, she also has experience working in private
practice, as well as other hospital-based outpatient physical
departments. She graduated from Stanford University with a MA in
Physical Therapy (1984), and received her DPT from Creighton University
(2003).
Elijah Freeman, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS
Dr. Freeman is a board certified orthopedic therapist and is the
orthopaedic rehabilitation coordinator at Fresno Pacific University
Department of Sports Medicine. He has presented both on the national and
international level as a clinical researcher and OMPT instructor. He is
a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical
Therapists and the American Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Freeman is
also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National
Strength and Conditioning Association.
Jennifer Frerich, PT, DPT, OCS
Jennifer Frerich is faculty for the Harris Health Orthopedic Residency
Program, OPTIM Manual Therapy, and Texas Woman's University. Jennifer is
board certified in Orthopedics and has completed a fellowship in manual
therapy. She is currently involved in chronic pain research
investigating physical therapy treatment and changes in activity levels.
Amy Garrigues, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Amy Garrigues graduated from Simmons College in Boston in 2004 with her
Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She received Orthopedic Clinical
Certification in 2007 and Fellowship in AAOMPT in 2009. Dr. Garrigues
specializes in treating patients following concussion, and as all
physical therapists, finds herself treating a population with chronic
pain and disability. Her lack of tools for helping patients overcome
apathy and ambivalence for behavior change related to their health
drives her interest in Motivational Interviewing. She recently completed
a Certificate of Advanced Practice in Motivational Interviewing from
UW-Madison.
Maggie Gebhardt,PT, DPT, OCS
Maggie received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Georgia State
University in 2008 and completed her Orthopedic Residency from Mercer
University Physical Therapy in 2010. She is currently in the process of
completing her Fellowship in orthopaedic manual physical therapy at
Mercer University. She is an adjunct clinical instructor at Mercer
University in the department of Physical Therapy teaching in the
entry-level curriculum as well as the orthopedic residency. Maggie's
clinical specialties include movement analysis, functional movement
screening, manual therapy, neurodynamics, dry needling, women's health,
and athletic hip injuries. She has presented on topics related to nerve
pain, chronic pain, runners injuries, and clinical reasoning.
Mindy Galleher
Mindy Galleher is a physical therapist at Nationwide Children's Hospital
in the Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy department. She received
her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The University of Cincinnati and
completed an orthopedic residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Christina Gomez, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS
Christina Gomez is a Clinical Faculty Mentor for the Institute for
Athlete Regeneration OMPT Fellowship. She is also the Coordinator for
the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Orthopedic Physical Residency Program.
She is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and completed her
Bachelor of Science in 2006 and Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2010 at
the University of New Mexico. Christina moved to Houston in 2011 and
graduated from the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Orthopedic Residency
program in July of 2013. She completed her fellowship training through
the Institute for Athlete Regeneration in May of 2015. Her specialties
include athlete spine rehabilitation, concussion rehabilitation, pain
science, and behavioral science.
Amanda Grant, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, CLT, FAAOMPT
Amanda Grant is a full time faculty member at the University of Saint
Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS), teaching in both entry level and
advanced spinal and extremity manipulation courses. She is also the
program director for the school's Orthopaedic Residency and Fellowship
program. Dr. Grant received a Manual Therapy Certification from USAHS
and is an Orthopaedic Specialist from ABPTS. Dr. Grant is also a fellow
of AAOMPT. She maintains clinical practice at First Coast
Rehabilitation where she sees a variety of neuromusculoskeletal and
lymphedema cases.
Sean Griech, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT
Sean is an associate professor of orthopedics at DeSales University
Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He is a Board Certified Orthopedic
Specialist, and Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist. Sean has a
strong background in orthopedic physical therapy, is certified in
vestibular therapist, and helped develop the standards of care for
Lehigh Valley Hospital's Concussion Center.
Charles Hazle, PT, PhD
Charles Hazle, PT, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University of
Kentucky, teaching in all aspects of care of patients with
musculoskeletal disorders. Areas of specific interest include manual
therapy and the integration of imaging into physical therapy practice.
He has experience in teaching nationally and internationally.
Cindy Hon, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT
Cindy Hon, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT is faculty member with the Kaiser
Permanente Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Fellowship,
and a graduate from that program in 2015. Cindy is a Clinical
Specialist at Kaiser San Jose, and has a special interest in Anterior
Cruciate Ligament and post-surgical knee rehabilitation, rehabilitation
of throwers including after Tommy John surgery, and sports hernias. She
received her DPT from Boston University in 2006.
Carleen Jogodka, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Carleen Jogodka is a 2004 entry level DPT graduate of Regis University
in Denver, CO. Immediately upon graduation, she pursued and accepted a
position at Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital as an emergency care
provider at the nation's first Emergency Department Physical Therapy
(EDPT) program. She is a board-certified orthopedic specialist and a
Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical
Therapists.
As a physical therapist, Carleen has participated in clinical research,
numerous local and national presentations as well as clinical and course
instruction for multiple universities. She is a co-author of an article
on physical therapists in the ED, and served as a consultant with
various organizations on aspects of the emergency care physical
therapist practice. Her professional interests include best-practice
integration and interdisciplinary care management."
Mark Kargela, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Kargela is a graduate of Grand Valley State University in 2003 where
he received his masters degree. He later received his transitional DPT
along with a manual therapy certification (MTC) from the University of
St. Augustine. Mark is credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
(cert-MDT) and is board certified in orthopedic physical therapy. Mark
has also been involved in the Michigan Physical Therapy Association in
delegate and district treasurer roles along with serving as adjunct
faculty at Grand Valley State University. He is a graduate of EIM's
fellowship program in 2012. Dr. Kargela currently practices at Mayo
Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He is faculty for the pain science and
clinical reasoning curriculum of EIM's fellowship and teaches weekend
intensive courses.
Alec Kay, PT, DMT, FAAOMPT, OCS, ATC
Alec has been teaching residency, fellowship, and short term courses for
the Ola Grimsby Institute in manual therapy and exercise since 2000
when he completed his Doctor of Manual Therapy degree. His emphasis has
been manipulation and includes teaching in South America, Europe,
Scandinavia and throughout North America.
He has had multiple published articles as well as book chapter contributions.
Alec is president of United Physical Therapy in Anchorage, Alaska, where
he sees patients and mentors students on a full time basis."
Evan Kelley, PT, DPT, OCS
Dr. Kelley is currently, Lead Physical Therapist and subject matter
expert in rehabilitative medicine for on-site medical staff running two
VA outpatient physical therapy clinics. Active duty USAF physical
therapist 2000-2011 having worked as Chief of Physical Therapy and
Physical Medicine in various outpatient military clinics acting as
physician extender providing direct access and credentialed to order
imaging diagnostics, medical laboratory testing, prescribing
non-narcotic medications, referral to other specialty clinics and making
return to duty determinations.
Laura Kenny, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Laura (Laurie) Kenny PT, OCS, FAAOMPT is a physical therapist and a
board certified orthopedic clinical specialist, by the American Board of
Physical Therapy Specialties. She is a graduate of the Kaiser Hayward
PT Fellowship and is also a Fellow of the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. She has collaborated with Peter
Edgelow for 25 years as he developed and refined the Edgelow
Neurovascular Entrapment Syndrome Treatment (ENVEST) approach to
treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome. As a clinical specialist at
Kaiser Oakland Occupational Health, Laurie treats injured workers,
teaches courses to physical therapists and primary care clinicians on
the topics of; Physical Therapy Management of Cumulative Trauma
Disorders, Clinician-Patient Communication skills, and Musculoskeletal
Examination techniques.
Adeeb Khalfe, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS
A graduate of Baylor University, Adeeb Khalfe was part of the second
Doctor of Physical Therapy class from Angelo State University in 2013.
After graduation, Adeeb successfully completed the Orthopedic Residency
program in August of 2014. In addition to serving as faculty of the
residency programs, Adeeb is completing a fellowship with The Institute
for Athlete Regeneration. Having worked with many higher level athletes,
Adeeb is enthusiastic about manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and
sports performance and strives to be a leading expert in movement
science. Adeeb is a Board certified Orthopedic Specialist, a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a member of the American
Physical Therapy Association, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and
National Strength and Conditioning Association. In his free time, Adeeb
enjoys exercising, participating in community service, and attending
Baylor and Houston sporting events.
Richard Kring, PT, PhD, DMT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Kring graduated from physical therapy school in 1997. Finished a
three-year residency culminating in the Doctorate of Manual Therapy
(DMT) followed by Fellowship in OMT (FAAOMPT) from the Ola Grimsby
Institute. Dr. Kring received his PhD in 2008 with emphasis in
neurophysiology. Currently serves as the Director of Research and
Clinical Manager in Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy at the Cleveland
Clinic and is the CEO, COO for the Ola Grimsby Institute. Currently
active in research, authorship, as well as teaching residencies,
fellowships and post doctoral candidates throughout the US and
Internationally. Frequent lecturer locally, Nationally, and
Internationally.
Elizabeth Lane, PT, DPT, CSCS, OCS, FAAOMPT
Elizabeth Lane is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in 2009
with the degree of doctor of physical therapy. In a relatively short
time, she has completed residency training in orthopedic physical
therapy and fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy.
She has presented on a local and national level on the topic of manual
physical therapy and dry needling. She currently serves as director for
Benchmark Rehab Institute's orthopedic residency program and also is
completing PhD training at the University of Utah with Julie Fritz, PT,
PhD, FAPTA.
Michael Leal, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Leal is an Assistant Professor at West Coast University where he is
the course coordinator for the musculoskeletal curriculum. He has also
taught for the tDPT program at Regis University, and the
Residency/Fellowship programs for EIM. He received his tDPT degree and
Manual Therapy Fellowship from Regis University, has co-authored several
book chapters, an APTA Monograph, co-designed and taught a fellowship
level pain science course and is currently a manuscript reviewer for the
Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy and Physiotherapy Research
and Practice. He is interested in clinical reasoning and incorporation
of the pain sciences into patient management.
Robert LeBeau, PT, OCS, CFMT, FAAOMPT
ROBERT LE BEAU, PT, CMFT, OCS, FAAOMPT Bob graduated with honors from
the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BSc in Physical Therapy. In
2004, he was awarded the distinction of Board Certified Orthopedic
Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy
Specialists, and recertified this specialization in 2014. He achieved
the status of a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) in 2008. In
2013, he achieved the terminal clinical distinction of Fellow of the
American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) from
the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently pursuing a
Doctor of Science degree (ScD) in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from Texas
Tech University. Research interests include hip rehabilitation and
non-arthritic hip pain, spinal rehabilitation, motor control, manual
therapy, and pain science.
Matthew Lee, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Matthew Lee practices and is clinic director at Kentucky Orthopedic
Rehab Team (KORT) in Lexington KY. He is a faculty member for residency
and fellowship clinical education programs and teaches continuing
education courses. His clinical and research interests are the
patient/PT interaction, post-graduate clinical education and manual
physical therapy.
Sarah Lohmann, PT, DPT, OCS
Sarah Lohmann's interest is in chronic pain research and application,
and has lectured locally and nationally on the subject. Her current
focus is on the implementation of chronic pain neuroscience education in
a group setting in conjunction with physical therapy treatment. She is
board certified and is completing a fellowship in manual therapy.
Elaine Lonnemann, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Elaine Lonnemann is an Associate Professor at Bellarmine University
in Louisville KY. She is a board certified clinical specialist in
Orthopedics and a fellow of AAOMPT. She has been a member of AAOMPT
since 1991 serving on a variety of committees including Nominating,
Conference & Education, IFOMPT Educational Standards and
International Monitoring. She has served two terms at the Secretary of
AAOMPT. Her primary teaching responsibilities include Functional
Anatomy, Differential Diagnosis and Musculoskeletal Evaluation and
Intervention of the Extremities and Spine. She also instructs manual
therapy seminars including S1 and S4 with the University of St.
Augustine.
Janice Lwin, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, FAAOMPT
Janice Lwin is Board Certified in Orthopaedics, Manual Therapy Certified
and a Fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists. She
is currently adjunct faculty at West Coast University in Los Angeles,
CA, teaching both in the physical and occupational therapy departments.
She also continues to practice in the clinical setting. She has been
published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented case studies and
research at State, National and International conferences.
Cameron MacDonald, PT DPT GCS OCS FAAOMPT
Assistant Professor at Regis University and Coordinator of the Regis
Fellowship. Fellowship trained, Board certified orthopedics and
geriatrics, currently undertaking PhD studies on the historical roots of
manual therapy. Multiple time presenter at AAOMPT/IFOMPT, current
President Program Director SIG AAOMPT, Colorado APTA Chapter President,
Director Regis Fellowship in OMPT, faculty/mentor to over 100 Fellows in

Ivan Matsui, PT, FAAOMPT
Ivan Matsui, PT, FAAOMPT is Senior Faculty for the Kaiser Permanente
Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship and
Clinical Supervisor for Kaiser Permanente in Union City, CA. Ivan has
particular expertise in mentor education and the role of physical
therapy in primary care. He received his degrees from the University of
California, Santa Cruz, University of California San Francisco Medical
Center and the Kaiser Hayward PT Residency.
Bradley Myers, PT, DPT, OCS, CMPT
Brad Myers, PT, DPT, OCS is Clinical Assistant Professor and Program
Coordinator for the Orthopaedic PT Residency within the Department of
Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Myers is
currently Fellow-in-Training at the Regis University OMPT Fellowship
Program, and nearing completion of a DSc degree in Orthopaedic Manual
Therapy from Andrews University. Dr. Myers remains active in patient
care at the UIC PT Faculty Practice. His research interests include the
appropriate application of OMPT and exercise interventions within
orthopaedic dysfunctions, and the identification of motor control
dysfunctions as a precursor/result of musculoskeletal impairments.
Christina Myers, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. MDT
Chris Myers is a practicing physical therapist with BenchMark Physical
Therapy in the Chattanooga area as well as adjunct faculty for the DPT
programs at the University of Chattanooga at TN and South College. She
earned her MPT from Ellon University and DPT from the University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga, has achieved board certification in
orthopedics, is a certified McKenzie practitioner, and is currently
completing fellowship training in manual therapy with Evidence in
Motion. Dr. Myers has presented at the state level and has taught
several continuing education course throughout the southeast.
Toko Nguyen, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS
Toko Nguyen is the Program Director for the Institute for Athlete
Regeneration, a post-professional Manual Therapy Fellowship Program, and
also serves as the Supervisor of Residency Programs for Houston
Methodist Sugar Land Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. He is a Board
Certified Specialist in Orthopedics and Sports, Fellowship trained in
Manual Therapy, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Toko
has extensive experience working with the athletic population including
collegiate, amateur, professional, and Olympic athletes with an emphasis
on the shoulder and knee. He works along side many prestigious names in
the sports performance field and is one of the foremost experts in the
treatment of the overhead athlete in Texas. He is a member of the APTA
Orthopedic and Sports Section, APTA Residency and Fellowship
Credentialing Services Committee, Texas Physical Therapy Association,
AAOMPT, and is the Texas Legislative Representative for the APTA Sports
Physical Therapy Section.
Michael O'Donnell, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Michael O'Donnell, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT is an Assistant Professor of
Clinical Physical Therapy and Director of the Orthopaedic Residency at
the University of Southern California. In addition, he is the owner of
Harbor Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, private practice in San
Pedro, Ca. He has recently authored a monograph Injury, Healing and
Adaptation of the Musculoskeletal System for the Orthopaedic Section of
the APTA. Dr. O'Donnell is a member of the Orthopaedic and Private
Practice Sections of the APTA as well as being a Fellow in the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Kenneth Olson, PT, DHSc, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Ken Olson is a private practitioner and an adjunct assistant
professor for Marquette University and part-time faculty at Northern
Illinois University. Dr Olson currently serves as the president of
IFOMPT and is a member of the AAOMPT practice affairs committee and the
APTA Manipulation Workgroup. Additionally, he is a past president of
the AAOMPT. Dr. Olson is a co-author of the APTA Manipulation Education
Manual and the APTA Position on Thrust Joint Manipulation. He is the
author of the textbook titled: Manual Physical Therapy of the Spine
published by Elsevier.
April Oury, PT, MS, CFMT, FAAOMPT
April graduated from Boston University's Sargent College of Allied
Health Professions in 1997 with a MS in Physical Therapy. She is the
owner of Body Gears Physical Therapy and enjoys training therapists to
maximize their skills and discover their talents, as well as patients'
untapped potential. Ms. Oury's passion is to improve movement patterns
through unorthodox posture retraining and mechanical alignment
correction of the joint, soft tissue, nerve, and organs. She obtained
her Integrated Orthopedic Certification in 2000 through the University
of St. Augustine and the Institute of Physical Art. In 2003, she went on
to complete her Functional Manual Therapy® certification from the
Institute of Physical Art. She obtained her fellow status in the
American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT) in
2009. She has been an instructor with the Institute of Physical Art
teaching Functional Gait, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, and
CoreFirst Strategies. She served as the director for the Functional
Manual Therapy® residency program at Body Gears Physical Therapy.
Research interests include assisting with the recent publication
"Reliability and Validity of the Saliba Postural Classification System",
JMMT 2016. She has completed 4 Olympic distance triathlons, is a mother
of 2 (plus one on the way!) and loves Chicago's food and fashion scene.
Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA
Dr. Stanley Paris has led the way through his participation in the
international development of physical therapy. In honor of his work,
Paris has received the Mildred Elson Award, the highest honor bestowed
by WCPT on physical therapists who have contributed significantly to the
development of physical therapy at an international level. Since his
immigration to the US from New Zealand in 1966, he has been actively
involved in research, clinical practice, and teaching in the area of
orthopedic and manual physical therapy, and has influenced the world of
physical therapy through his writing, teaching, clinical practice, and
advocacy efforts. Paris is the founding president of the University of
St Augustine for Health Sciences and has founded many other influential
organizations. For example, he was the founding chairman and second
president of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative
Physiotherapists, and he founded APTA's Orthopaedic Section and served
as its president. He also founded the Journal of Manual and Manipulative
Therapy and was a founding member of AAOMPT.
Catherine Patla, PT, DHSc,MMSc, MTC, FAAOMPT
Catherine Patla received a Doctor of Health Science from the University
of St. Augustine in 1998. Dr. Patla is a 1976 graduate of University of
Pennsylvania Certificate program and obtained a Master of Medical
Science Degree in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from Emory University in
1988. She also received a Manual Therapy Certification from the
Institute of Physical Therapy and is an Orthopaedic Specialist from
ABPTS. Dr. Patla is also a fellow of AAOMPT. A member of the University
of St. Augustine's faculty since 1979, Dr. Patla's current interests are
in extremity orthopaedics, reliability and validity of end-feel, and
critical thinking.

Brent Perdrizet, Bachelor of Exercise Science at Northern Arizona

Athlete in Colorado Springs. Private orthopedic clinic technician as
earning Doctorate in Physical Therapy Sacred Heart University in 2007.

Bryan Pickens, PT, DSc, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Bryan Pickens is an Assistant Professor with the U.S. Military-Baylor
University Doctoral Fellowship in Sports Physical Therapy located at
West Point, New York. He earned his DPT in 2009 from the Army-Baylor
Physical Therapy program. Bryan has been assigned to multiple Army
installations, providing outpatient care as well as being tasked with
reducing injury rates and optimizing military readiness and human
performance. He is board certified in Orthopedics, certified in
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, is fellowship trained in manual
physical therapy, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Manual Physical Therapists.
Brian Power, PT, DPT, DMT, FAAOMPT
Brian is a co-owner and Vice President of MTI Physical Therapy in
Washington State. He has considerable post-graduate education and
experience and over the years has specialized in orthopedic manual
therapy. He finished a four year program in manual therapy from the Ola
Grimsby Institute that has culminated to a DPT and DMT as well as
certification of equivalence in Manual Therapy from the Norwegian
Specialty Group in Manual Therapy.
In addition to his clinical practice, he has been involved with teaching
post-graduate programs in orthopedic manual therapy with a focus on
manipulation in the United States, Scandinavia, Asia and Europe since
1991.
Mark Powers. PT, DPT, OCS, COMT
Dr. Mark Powers is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and
fellow-in-training in Nxt Gen Institute of Physical Therapy's Manual
Therapy Fellowship program. He currently practices in Candler Hospital's
outpatient physical therapy clinic in Savannah, GA and is a video
contributor for the NxtGenPT.TV Orthopedic Prep Channel. His current
interests include pain science, manual therapy mechanisms of action and
clinical reasoning, and delving deeper into the role observation has in
rehabilitation.
Francois Prizinski, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT
Dr. Francois Prizinski is an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist and a
Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy
since 2012. He is the cofounder/partner of Nxt Gen Institute of Physical
Therapy with an accredited orthopaedic residency and manual therapy
fellowship. He has an active role and interest in teaching how manual
therapy applies to clinical reasoning, pain science, errors in motor
control and brain circuitry, and adaptive neuroplasticity. Dr. Prizinski
is an active clinical mentor and treats patients for the PT Center in
Charlotte, NC.
Jennifer Reneker, PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS
Dr. Jennifer Reneker, PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS is an associate professor at
the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Reneker has had
numerous publications on the topics of dizziness and sports-related
concussion (SRC). Recently, Jennifer led an investigative team and
secured funding from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical
Therapists (AAOMPT) and the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) to
complete a randomized clinical trial on the effectiveness of early
physical therapy after SRC. In addition to her university appointment,
Jennifer holds an appointment at the Cleveland VA Medical Center.
Benjamin Renfrow, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT
Ben Renfrow is the Program Coordinator for the Institute for Athlete
Regeneration, a post-professional Manual Therapy Fellowship Program. He
is also the Clinic Director of the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute at
Memorial Hermann Hospital. Ben is Fellowship trained in Manual Therapy
and is active in educating various athletic organizations on injury
prevention and sports performance. He has spoken at the local, state,
and national levels in various sports medicine topics. Ben is an expert
in movement impairment diagnosis, and uses this knowledge in effectively
treating the athletic population. He is a member of the APTA Orthopedic
and Sports Section, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and AAOMPT.
Dan Rhon, PT, DPT, DSc, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Rhon is a clinician and active researcher for the Department of
Defense in San Antonio, TX. He holds graduate degrees from Baylor and
Temple Universities and a postdoctoral research fellowship through the
University of Utah. He is board certified in orthopaedics and a fellow
in AAOMPT. He has a strong research interest in studying optimal
healthcare services pathways for musculoskeletal disease, and leads
funded research with grants in excess of $3 million . He was also the
recent recipient of the Rose Excellence in Research Award from the APTA
for a recent clinical trial for management of subacromial pain syndrome.
Eric Robertson, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Eric Robertson is the program director for the Kaiser Permanente
Northern California Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship, and
Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso. His
expertise lies in residency and fellowship education, health technology,
and musculoskeletal physical therapy. He received his professional
training from Quinnipiac University and Boston University.
Shirley Sahrmann
Dr. Sahrmann is Professor Emerita of Physical Therapy at Washington
University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. She received her
bachelors degree in Physical Therapy, masters and doctorate degrees in
Neurobiology from Washington University. She is a Catherine Worthingham
Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association and is a recipient
of the Association's Marion Williams Research Award, the Lucy Blair
Service Award, and the Kendall Practice award, the Inaugral John H.P.
Maley Lecture and Mary McMillan Lecture awards. Dr. Sahrmann has also
received Washington University's Distinguished Faculty Award, the School
of Medicine's Inaugral Distinguished Clinician Award and an honorary
doctorate from the University of Indianapolis. She has also received the
Bowling-Erhard Orthopedic Clinical Practice Award from the Orthopaedic
Section of the APTA. She has served on the APTA Board of Directors and
as president of the Missouri Chapter.
In addition to her numerous national and international presentations,
Dr. Sahrmann has been a keynote speaker at the World Confederation of
Physical Therapy, and at the Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and
Danish national congresses.
Dr. Sahrmann's research interests are in development and validation of
classification schemes for movement impairment syndromes as well as in
exercise based interventions for these syndromes. Her books, Diagnosis
and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes and Movement System
Impairment Syndromes of the Cervical and Thoracic Spines and the
Extremities, describe the syndromes and methods of treatment. She
maintained an active clinical practice specializing in patients with
musculoskeletal pain syndromes until her retirement in July 2012.
Mitchell Selhorst, DPT, OCS
Mitchell Selhorst is a physical therapist at Nationwide Children's
Hospital in the Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy department. He
is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist and is also a
certified orthopedic manual therapist. He received his Masters in
Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University and recently completed a
transitional Doctorate program at Evidence in Motion. Mitchell also
serves as the orthopedic residency coordinator for NCH's Sports and
Orthopedic Physical Therapy department. His research interests include
anterior knee pain and manual therapy treatments for pediatric patients.
Colette Seymann, PT, DPT, M.Applied Sci., FAAOMPT
Colette owns/manages her own private PT practice in San Diego, CA. She
also coaches and trains physical therapists, executives and
entrepreneurs in leadership and communication skills; and has worked
with companies such as Shell Oil, Dole Foods, and ILFC (International
Lease Finance Company) to consult with their teams. Colette received a
B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of California Los Angeles in
1987, a M.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of So. California, a
M.S. in Physiotherapy (Manipulative Medicine) from the University So.
Australia, Adelaide in 1996, and a DPT from EIM-Institute for Health
Professions in 2011.
Eric Shamus, Pt, DPT, PhD, CSCS
Eric Shamus is an associate professor and chair of the department of
Rehabilitation Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University. He has
previously taught manual therapy at the Doctor of Osteopathy program at
Nova Southeastern University. He teaches manual therapy techniques for
the Brooks fellowship and residency programs in Jacksonville, FL. He has
published numerous articles and textbook publications, most recently
the Color Atlas of Physical Therapy at McGraw-Hill. He lectures
regularly at the international level.
Mark Shepherd, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Shepherd is a clinician and clinical educator. He most recently
practiced in the outpatient orthopedic patient population at Johns
Hopkins Hospital where he has served as clinical faculty for the Johns
Hopkins/George Washington University Orthopedic Residency Program. He
also is faculty for Evidence in Motion's Residency and Fellowship
programs where he leads regional management courses as well as mentors
fellows in training. He currently teaches in the South College DPT
program. Dr. Shepherd's clinical and research interests include chronic
and persistent pain disorders, spinal and extremity manual therapies
and clinical reasoning in physical therapy. He has presented at both
regional and national physical therapy conferences speaking about
professional development as a new professional and post-professional
residency and fellowship training.
Laura Smith, PT, PhD, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Laura Smith is an Assistant Professor and Orthopedic Residency
Program Coordinator at the University of Michigan-Flint. She has
extensive teaching experience in entry-level, post-professional and
continuing professional education at the state, national and
international level. Dr. Smith is an active member of the American
Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Manual Physical Therapists. Her research interests are in
musculoskeletal performance measures in adolescents, manual physical
therapy, and interprofessional education.
Michael Song, M.D.
Dr. Song specializes in the treatment of a variety of spinal conditions.
He completed his medical education at Indiana University Medical
School, Indianapolis, Indiana. He subsequently did a General Surgery
Internship followed by a Neurosurgery Residency at Loyola Univerisity
Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He is a Board Certified
Neurological Surgeon. His professional affiliations include the American
Board of Neurological Surgery (Diplomat), American Association of
Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, Washoe County
Medical Society and the Nevada State Medical Association. He owns and
operates Advanced Neurosurgery in Reno, Nevada.

The AAOMPT Student Special Interest Group is an organization whose
mission is to serve its members by fostering active student involvement
and networking within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual
Physical Therapists and developing a community of students committed to

Dana Tew, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dana Tew is focused on integration of manual therapy and exercise into a
holistic, evidence-based and biopsychosocial approach to physical
therapy treatment. He is the residency manager of Harris Health System's
Orthopedic Residency Program and director of OPTIM Manual Therapy. Dana
earned his APTA Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and
is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual
Physical Therapists.
Arie van Duijn, PT, MscPT, EdD, OCS
Arie van Duijn is an associate professor and program director of the DPT
program at Florida Gulf Coast University. He currently serves at the
Academic and Clinical Faculty (ACF) SIG of AAOMPT. He has a post
professional degree and certification in manual therapy from the
University of St. Augustine. He has published in the areas of manual
therapy and scholarship of teaching and learning of manual therapy
techniques, and presents regularly at the state and national level.
Margaret Wicinski, PT, DPT, OCS, PCS, MTC, FAAOMPT
Margaret Wicinski is a full time faculty member at the University of
Saint Augustine for Health Sciences(USAHS), teaching in the entry level
program. Dr. Wicinski received a Manual Therapy Certification from USAHS
and is an Orthopaedic Specialist from ABPTS. Dr. Wicinski is also a
fellow of AAOMPT. She is also a mentor for the school's Orthopaedic
Residency and Fellowship program. Dr. Wicinski maintains clinical
practice at First Coast Rehabilitation where she sees a variety of
orthopaedic cases.
Matt Willey, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT
Matt Willey is currently the Clinical Specialist for the Kaiser
Permanente Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic in Modesto, CA. He is a
Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Fellow of the
American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists with extensive experience
in the management of orthopedic and sports injuries. He received his BA
at the University of California — Berkeley in Human Bio-dynamics in
1996, going on to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania receiving his
Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2000. Matt completed the Kaiser
Permanente Advanced Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Therapy in 2012, and
received his Fellowship in the AAOMPT. Matt has presented and lectured
at several conferences including the AAOMPT conference and CSM, and has
co-authored an article in the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation.
Alexis Wright, PT, PhD, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Alexis Wright is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Chair in
the Department of Physical Therapy, High Point University. Dr. Wright is
a clinical researcher, educator, and practicing physical therapist
whose passions include refining and improving the patient examination
and treatment process used in everyday physical therapist practice. Dr.
Wright received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University
in 2006, and a PhD in physical therapy clinical research from the
University of Otago, New Zealand in 2010. Dr Wright was recognized as a
Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists
in 2011 and achieved APTA board certified orthopedic specialization in
2015.
Richard Zaruba, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT
Dr. Zaruba worked for the USAF as Chief of Physical Therapy at Minot AFB
in a direct access/primary care role from 2008-2013. In this role he
has granted advanced practice privileges for limited prescription
privileges, imaging, medical laboratory testing, and specialist referral
privileges, to include mental health. These were combined with manual
therapy, therapeutic exercise, and patient education to provide
comprehensive treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including
chronic pain. He regularly worked as part of a coordinated health care
team to address complex patients in the efficient and effective manner
possible.
